Julian is another long-time member of the Bellum fam. We have several emergency responders as members, and Julian is one of them. He was recently sworn in as Lieutenant of the Collingswood Fire Department.

This past winter, Julian and his team were a part of a rescue team for a dog stranded in the middle of a freezing lake. As a result of his training and consistent practice, he and his crew were able to quickly swim out and retrieve the dog- effectively naming Julian our own “Bellum Hero” (as there are many in our gym who are dog lovers!).

Our gym is full of heroes, whether they be working moms, public defenders, those who are taking a stand against chronic disease, or saviors of stranded animals. Young or old, at it for 5 weeks or 5 years, we are all in this together. We are all working hard to make ourselves better, so we can in turn make the world a better place. Julian, thanks for all the ways you are an incredible role model to those around you, and thank you for all you do to serve others.

Favorite CrossFit Movement: I enjoy rowing for calories.

Favorite Music or Playlist to Workout to: The heavier the better when it comes to workout music, but really anything except country music.

CrossFit is well-known to have many athletes who are also Emergency Responders, Military Personnel and Police Officers (to name a few). In what way do you feel CrossFit has benefitted you in your career?:  CrossFit has increased my overall strength and stamina making me more efficient at job specific functions.

Favorite out-of-the-gym activity: Some of my favorite activities include paddle boarding, mountain biking, hiking, drinking beer, and traveling with my wife.

Current Gym Goal: I want to stay consistent.

What’s your “Why”? Statistically, 50% of line of duty firefighter deaths are secondary to cardiovascular disease and poor health. That’s my “why.” I don’t want to become a statistic.
