This strong momma has a lot to juggle, with 3 kids (and 2 of them under the age of 3!) and a full schedule. She makes taking time for herself at the gym a priority, and gives it her all every time she walks in the door. One of Kelly’s greatest strengths is her determination. Whether she is going for a 1 rep max or practicing her technique with an empty barbell, Kelly’s growth mindset helps her achieve great things- with awesome results to show! At any given point in a workout, she’s either hard at work, or offering encouragement to those around her.
What is your favorite CrossFit Movement?: I’d say power cleans are probably my favorite CrossFit movement. Although it’s not my best lift, I like doing them the best.
What is your favorite CrossFit workout (or type of workout)?: Saturday mornings are usually my favorite day to work out because its usually a long metcon, partner workout. Working out with a partner always makes me push myself a little harder, and it’s nice to have that extra encouragement from your partner.
You’re a busy, working mom of 3 awesome kids! Your consistency is inspiring. What words of encouragement do you have to other moms who are trying to find (or keep!) time to focus on their health and fitness?: It’s okay to make time for yourself. It’s okay to be a little selfish for a few hours a week to get into the gym, and focus on you. Finding the time to work on yourself is just as important as the time you spend on your family. If you are not healthy, mentally and/or physically, it’s harder to be the best version of yourself. I love going to the gym first thing in the morning, so nothing can get in the way of my gym time later in the day. It’s a great way to get your day started!
What is your favorite out-of-the-gym activity?: I love watching my oldest play sports!! Soon enough the little ones will be joining her, too. I love spending time with my family and friends. Since our lives are so crazy busy, I truly cherish any time spent with my loved ones.
What is your current gym goal?: Double unders (getting the rope around twice in one jump) are always on my goal list, but right now, I’m working on stringing together toes to bar.
What’s your “Why”?: I have 3 young people who I hope to inspire to work hard, and lead an overall healthy lifestyle. I want my kids and husband to be proud of me for being dedicated to bettering myself. I plan on living a long life, and I’m taking the steps now to help me reach that goal.
