Molly has always been athletic, with activities running the gamut from team sports to triathlons and almost everything in between- even an Ironman! Her wife, Theresa, has been an important part of our community and a member of Bellum for several years. Finally in May 2018, Molly decided to join T in hopes to build strength after having her twins. Two nutrition challenges, countless workouts, a few competitions and a year and a half later, Molly says she is in better shape in her 50s than she was before getting pregnant.

Molly is a teacher through and through, and always helps those around her in class. During our 6 week nutrition challenges, Molly filled our online Challenge Support Group with images of her homemade (challenge approved!) banana pancakes, homemade turkey sausage, and frozen banana ice cream. Each time in the challenge, she helped herself and those around her to realize that dialing in on your nutrition and focusing on eating whole, nutritious foods can be easy and tasty at the same time!

One of the greatest effects of Molly’s membership has been her desire to bring CrossFit to the school she is a Principal. Molly recently completed her CrossFit Level One Certificate and worked with her school staff to make affiliation a reality. Now, RVille CrossFit is helping to bring functional fitness to many of her students.

Molly’s seemingly endless energy is contagious, and she fires up those around her whenever she’s in for a class. Thank you Molly, for encouraging us to push harder, go faster, and be better versions of ourselves. We love having you in the Bellum fam!

What type of workouts did you perform before coming to Bellum?: Over the years I have done all kinds of stuff – Fast-pitch softball, field hockey, rough touch football, flag football, swimming, spinning, training for stuff like marathons and long course triathlons.

Why were you looking for a new style of workouts?:  I had my twins when I was 47 and basically didn’t do any exercise for over 3 years.  A year prior to taking up CrossFit, I started spinning to get back in shape and loved it.  My wife, Theresa had been telling me to try CrossFit for years and I finally agreed. She knows I like to challenge myself to do hard things and CrossFit definitely is a challenge!!

What is your favorite CrossFit movement or workout?: I like almost all of the things we do, but power cleans and rowing are two of my favorites. (Molly also kicks major butt whenever the Assault Bikes come out thanks to her Spin routine)

What is your biggest accomplishment since starting at Bellum? My biggest accomplishment is getting back in shape. I am in better condition than I was before I had the twins. I attribute that not only to dedicating myself to working out, but also the two nutrition challenges I have participated in since joining Bellum.  The challenge group was so encouraging and helpful.

What is your favorite out-of-the-gym activity?: I love spending time with my family.  Both Theresa and I have gotten the chance to coach our kids, which has been amazing.

CrossFit has not only affected your own personal physical health and wellness, but it has also come into your work environment. Can you tell us a little about that?:  I really fell in love with CrossFit in the first couple of months at Bellum. Prior to being a principal, I was a Health and Physical Education teacher and coach. I knew that my students would love CrossFit, so this summer, I worked with my HPE and facilities people to build our very own CrossFit gym at our school. In September, four teachers and I were able to go for the CrossFit Level 1 training. In October, we affiliated our gym with CrossFit and are officially Rville CrossFit.  My teachers started offering CrossFit classes to our students last month! It has been awesome. Jenai and Ann were a tremendous help to me during this own process, I don’t think I could have pulled it off without them! Thanks!!!

What’s your “Why”?: To stay fit and get stronger so I can keep up with Theresa and the twins! (also known as the twinados!)
