Throughout her years at Bellum, Teasha’s consistent attendance and focus to detail helped her see progress in every area of her athletic performance, but most importantly, her internal monologue has been positively affected by her time spent with us. Her approach to a tough workout is echoed when she faces a difficult situation in life, by reminding herself to “just keep chipping.” Her GRIT is obvious, both in and out of the gym.
Teasha makes her attendance a priority, even when she’s had a tough day at work. Like so many of us during these unprecedented times, she’s currently working from home, and has even more so made getting in a workout a necessity each and every day. She recognizes the power of an hour spent clearing her head in one of our online Zoom classes, or getting in some vitamin D with an outside run. She makes her physical and mental health a priority, even when we can’t physically meet together in our gym.
Teash has been with us through thick and thin; through seasons of no-heat winters, through competitions and multiple CrossFit open workouts, through times of remembrance when we complete our community Murph workout, through chapters and seasons of change and growth. Teasha knows that individually, Bellum has made her a stronger person inside and out, but united with our other community members, we are all made stronger together.
Teasha’s smile lights up Bellum whenever she enters, and she is always willing to go out of her way to be a presence for the people she cares about. She may be 5 hours late, and she may trek 5 miles of beach because she parked in the wrong spot, but she’ll absolutely make it to say “happy birthday”! She is a positive presence. Even when everything is going wrong, she has always managed to capture the silver lining in a way that translates simply and is grounding.
Teasha, you are a beautiful soul. We are so grateful for your kind and enlightened spirit, and for the way you cherish and appreciate every moment spent together with your Bellum fam. We can’t wait to be reunited with you in person. Until then, continue being your positive, loving, beautiful self! We are PROUD to call you part of our gym fam.
What type of workouts did you perform before coming to Bellum?: Before coming to Bellum I participated in various forms of exercise including, kickboxing, hot yoga, swimming, cycling and running. I was really all over the place with my fitness, really hopping around from various workouts and gyms.
Why were you looking for a new style of workouts?: I was looking for a gym home. In addition, I was also seeking a workout routine that would encompass cardiovascular conditioning and weightlifting.
What is your favorite CrossFit movement or workout?: My favorite movements are deadlifts and bench press.
What is your biggest accomplishment since starting at Bellum? (in and/or out of the gym)? My biggest accomplishment since starting at Bellum has been hitting multiple one rep max, lifting heavy weights that I would have never imagined being able to lift. Outside of the gym, Bellum has taught me intestinal fortitude within myself. Whenever I am facing a challenge, I always resort back to a tough workout and say to myself, “Just keep chipping away.”
Being home all.the.time is really hard on a lot of people, both physically and mentally. What are a few things that you are doing to stay motivated to work out during this time of quarantine? Any tips for how to approach a workout (or our Zoom classes) to make it a more positive experience?: The quarantine has made me realize how much I love having such a positive and encouraging community with Bellum. I look forward to seeing the coaches and members during our Zoom workouts. Each day I make it by business to either log on and participate in a Zoom workout or get outside and workout. The quarantine has been tough on all of us, but it is important to remember this too will pass. We are all doing the best we can in these times, do not be so hard on yourself. Now more than ever we must give ourselves and others some grace.
What made you choose Bellum and CrossFit, as opposed to other styles of workouts?: I choose Bellum and CrossFit because I loved the camaraderie that comes with Crossfit and at Bellum everyone knows your name.
What is your favorite out-of-the-gym activity?: My favorite out of the gym activity to spend time at the beach.
What’s your “Why”? Having an autoimmune disorder, I know what it is to not be able to be physically active. It is something that I never take for granted. Plus, I want to stay fit for work and the Zombie Apocalypse.
